Sox right-hander Miguel Gonzalez returns from the disabled list after recovering from AC joint inflammation in his right shoulder. It will be his first start since June 14, and he’s searching for his first win since May 28.

“He attacks the strike zone, so we have to be ready. If we get our pitch, we can’t miss it. We have to be able to maximize what we’re capable of doing. This guy really commands the zone, and his breaking ball has a tremendous bite. It’s kind of tough to lay off of him. Most of the clubs he has been facing have been having a tough time laying off the hard breaking pitches he throws. He commands the outer part of the plate with his fastball, works both sides of the plate well. We’ll just have to see if we can catch some balls out over the plate and see what we can do.” –Sox manager Rick Renteria on Kershaw
